Loving Husband and Father

WAYNESVILLE — Richard Paul Shank, 64, of 64 Alma Drive, passed away peacefully at his home Jan. 15, 2014 after a courageous battle with heart disease and COPD.

Born Dec. 15, 1949 in Wooster, Ohio, the son of Janet and Paul Yoder Shank, who both preceded him in death.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam.  He also served in the U.S. Navy.  Paul liked to fish and golf and also enjoyed NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Patsy Britt Shank; his children, Rick Worrell of Handford, California, Edward Worrell also of California, Rachael Gandy Barkley of Greenville, South Carolina, and David Gandy of Asheville; stepchildren, Kimberly Thomason and husband, Kenny, of Canton, Jonathon “Buddy” Britt and his wife, Julie, also of Canton; eight grandchildren, Allana and Kristen Worrell of California, Owen and Nicholas Worrell of Newport, Tennessee, Blake and Autumn Barkley of Greenville, South Carolina, Jonathon Britt Jr. and Jax Doughty; and children who were part of our family for a short time and will be forever in our heart, Carey, Reva, Alex, and Sebastian.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Brian Lawrence officiating.  Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery with full military rites.  The family will receive friends one hour prior.
