JB via MF1BobbyG is a Certified Wellness Coach, a Lifestyle Weight Management Coach and a Personal Fitness Chef.  He uses his experience and this training to help you reach your Wellness goals.

Here’s what BobbyG means when he says “Coach”:

Coaching is about partnering to help you reach your goals.  It is less about telling you what to do and more about helping you discover your best path to progress.  It’s about creating a safe space to “fail” and about supporting you until you’re successful.

Here are five ways you can benefit from working with a coach:

#1:  Help to Clarify your Vision and Direction

For example:

Let’s say you want to feel well enough to do some of the typical activities you used to do with friends and family.  I would help you clarify what that looks like for you.  An example might be:

In six months, I will be better able to the park to play with my grandkids.

#2:  Help to Strategize your Actions

Building on the previous example, we would discover ways for you to get stronger and less susceptible to environmental challenges like the weather. so that you could accomplish your goal.  An example might be:

I will eat at least five servings of fruits and veggies each day and I will walk further each day until I can walk for 30 minutes at a time – even if I have to take my oxygen tank.

#3:  Help to Upgrade your Skills

For example:

What do you need to know to be better at what you’re doing?  If you have a chronic lung condition, you might need to regularly review how to use your inhalers or be updated on new medications or alternative treatments which could be beneficial.

#4:  Help to Optimize your Environment

Let’s say you’re having trouble keeping your weight down.  A coach could evaluate your kitchen, for example, and make suggestions as to how to set up your environment for better success (i.e. which foods to allow into the pantry).

#5:  Help to Master your Mindset

Mahatma Ghandi once said,

“Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.”

A coach will help you process how you “process” and help you gain victory over beliefs – and by extension behaviors – that limit your success.
