People who have COPD tend to experience shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing and increased phlegm. COPD is often silent and signs may not appear until there’s significant lung damage.
People diagnosed with COPD are more likely to be in their 40s or older.
In the majority of cases, COPD is caused by long-term smoking (particularly in the case of emphysema).
There’s no way to reverse COPD but treatments can control symptoms and try to stall the progression of the disease.
