Veterans have done a lot to defend our nation and now they are working on defending their immune system.

At the Veterans Administration Clinic in Scottsbluff, veterans are getting free flu shots.

In order to receive a flu shot, men and women must have to be currently enrolled in any VA clinic.

The staff at the clinic say a single flu shot each year greatly helps reduce the risk of catching the influenza virus during the upcoming winter months.

“It’s good to have the influenza vaccine,” said Physician Assistant Jennie Brehm. “Because many veterans have COPD and respiratory problems and the influenza vaccine helps dramatically with that so it keeps illnesses away.”

Veterans who have missed getting your flu shot today another one will take place on Thursday October 17th.
