It has always been one Missouri father’s dream to walk his daughter down the aisle.

But when Johnny Wells was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, he was told he wouldn’t live to see 10-year-old Nakeol’s wedding day. (Via KETV)

Nakeol is obviously too young to get married, but the family came up with a way to grant Johnny’s dying wish.

“They came up with the idea to have a little ceremony where she could make promises to be faithful to the man she would be married.” (Via KCTV)

During a bedside ceremony in Johnny’s hospital room, Nakeol donned a white dress and a bouquet of flowers and promised to search until she found the perfect man to marry. (Via KSPR)

“Do you promise your dad that you will search until you find a godly man to marry?” “Yes.” “Do you promise you will save yourself until you find a man that loves you as much as your daddy loves you?” “Yes.” (Via YouTube / Gena Hedgpeth)

And Johnny gave his daughter something very special to mark the occasion.

“He gave me a ring. And it’s a diamond ring with two hearts.” (Via KMEG)

Nakeol promised her father that she will wear the ring until her wedding day.

Nakeol says she is going to watch the video of the special ceremony before her real wedding and will have her flower girl wear the same dress she wore that day.
