PITTSTON — The center will be closed Monday, Jan.19 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

A representative from Bayada will speak on C.O.P.D. (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22. The public is invited to attend this presentation.

A council meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23 for all council members.

One on one computer classes are now being offered at the center. Marty Simko is the instructor and these classes are by appointment only.

A “Dining with Diabetes” program by the Penn State Extension will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays Feb. 9 and 23 and Mondays, March 2 and 9. Learn how to manage your diabetes one step at a time. To register for this class call the center at 570-655-5561.

Exercise classes are now being offered at the center five times a week. At 9 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays Healthy Steps classes with Ruth and Catherine are held and at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and 9 a.m. on Thursdays, Sit and Be Fit Chair Exercise Classes with Sandi are held. There is no charge for these classes. From 1:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons is Zumba Gold classes with Tony. Cost per class is $2.

At 10 a.m. on Mondays, line dancing class with Sue is held. The crochet club with Katherine meets at 10 a.m. as well on Mondays.

Cards, shuffleboard, Wii bowling, and computer with internet access is also available throughout the day. The pitch group is seeking new members to join them at 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

Ceramic classes are offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays. Ann Pisano is the instructor. There is a fee for this class and for purchasing of supplies.

Needlepoint class with Faye and RoseAnn is held at 10 a.m. on Thursday mornings. New members are welcome to join any of the above activities and classes.

Dinner is served at noon Monday through Friday. Asking donation is $2 for 60 years of age or older and $4.62 under 60. Dinner reservation must be made at least one day in advance by noon.
