Registered Nurse Melody Matheny-Orpen, of Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County, will conduct a workshop on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at Lapham Center on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. Participants in the workshop, which is developed by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, will learn about diagnosis, treatment and how to live better with a COPD diagnosis. COPD is the third-leading cause of death in the U.S. More than 12 million people have been diagnosed with the disease. Another 12 million have it but do not realize it.
There is no fee for the workshop but reservations are required at 203-594-3620.
Hearing aid clinic changed
The free hearing aid clinic has been changed to Tuesday, Jan. 20. Wendy Cooke, Hearing Instrument Specialist for Parker Ear Nose & Throat of Fairfield County in Norwalk, visits Lapham monthly to check and clean hearing aids and replace batteries. Call 203-594-3620 to make an appointment.
