Free workshop for managing long-term health conditions

BENNINGTON — Do you or someone you know have a long-term health condition? The Vernmont Blueprint for Health is offering free Healthier Living Workshops from 4:30 to 7 p.m., on Thursday evenings through Oct. 23, in the Seminar Room at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC). Described as life-changing by many, this workshop, developed by Stanford University, will help you gain control of your symptoms with humor and grace.

You’ll learn how to communicate better with your healthcare providers, friends and family; stay optimistic; cope with frustrations; manage pain; de-stress and relax; beat fatigue; and how to reduce depressed feelings.

Those with long-term diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, cancer, COPD, heart or lung disease, or fibromyalgia, are encouraged to attend. Family and supportive friends are also welcome.

You’ll feel better, accomplish more, and be able to take charge of your health. The workshop also covers appropriate use of medications, tips for improved nutrition, and how to evaluate new health treatments.

Men and women who have completed this free workshop report less stress, more confidence, higher energy levels, and fewer trips to the doctor’s office.

Preregistration is necessary. Call or email Eileen at drue@phin.org or 802-440-4098 to find out more and to register today.
