BRIDGETON â The Cumberland County Health Department has set its schedule for fall flu vaccination clinics for 2014.
The shots are free for Cumberland County residents.
Health experts now recommend that everyone 6 months of age and older get vaccinated against influenza every year, health officials said.
Even healthy children and adults can get very sick from the flu, but certain people are at greater risk for serious complications if they get the flu, including: People 65 years and older; Children younger than 5, but especially children younger than 2 years old; Women who are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during flu season; People with certain chronic health conditions like asthma and COPD, diabetes (both type 1 and 2), heart disease, neurological conditions, and certain other health conditions; and children 6 months to 59 months of age attending any child care center or preschool â they are required to receive a flu immunization annually between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31 of each year.
No appointments necessary to receive the shots. Check www.ccdoh.org for additional dates and locations.
