The weather may have dampened some outdoor plans for Mother’s Day but one local business is hoping to continue spreading motherly cheer throughout this week.
The owners of Gering Garden Center on 10th Street generally celebrate Mother’s Day with an annual open house but weather kept the shop closed today.

Co-owner Eric Kautz says Mother’s Day is always exciting because it’s the time of year when flowers and sales bloom.
Geraniums and the fairy gardens have been popular items. While Mother Nature didn’t cooperate today, Kautz says he’s been busy with customers the past few days.
“You always hope for a really good Mother’s Day weekend. Once in awhile you just get these snowy, rainy days and it’s going to hurt us this week but the last three days have been pretty steady, pretty good,” said Kautz.
Kautz says he plans to extend special Mother’s Day sales for another week throughout the garden center.
